Each region operates in semi-autonomous offices with own corporate functions including Commercial, Finance, HR, Compliance & Legal, Customer Service and Operations.

Purposes of the position:
As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for building a freight forwarding team which manages the end-to-end process of shipping and transporting goods for our clients. You will collaborate closely with clients, carriers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery. Your expertise in freight forwarding, logistics, and customs regulations will play a critical role in facilitating international and domestic shipments.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for commercial clients, maintaining strong relationships, and understanding their unique shipping requirements.
- Communicate proactively to provide updates on shipment status, resolve issues, and address any concerns promptly.
- Identify opportunities to enhance customer satisfaction and develop innovative solutions to meet client needs.
- Freight Forwarding Operations:
- Plan and coordinate the movement of commercial cargo, including land, sea, and air transportation.
- Collaborate with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to secure necessary transportation and handle all related documentation and customs procedures.
- Monitor and manage shipment costs, negotiating rates with carriers to optimize transportation expenses.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Stay up-to-date with international and domestic regulations, customs requirements, and trade compliance laws.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all documentation to facilitate efficient customs clearance and avoid delays or penalties.
- Supply Chain Coordination:
- Collaborate with internal departments, including operations, and warehousing, to coordinate shipments and ensure timely delivery.
- Resolve any issues related to transportation, such as delays, damages, or shortages, by working closely with internal and external stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to optimize processes, streamline operations, and reduce costs while maintaining high service levels.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in commercial freight forwarding.
- Participate in training programs and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Specific requirements for the position:
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in commercial freight forwarding or logistics operations.
- Strong knowledge of international and domestic shipping regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance.
- Familiarity with freight management systems and software applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Detail-oriented mindset with exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using productivity tools such as Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
