We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Logistics Representative to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing container transport for both import and export activities. This role requires expertise in transport by road, barge, and intermodal systems. The Logistics Representative will ensure the efficient and timely movement of containers, compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
Tasks/responsibilities:
- Container Transport Management:
- Coordinate and oversee container transport for import and export operations.
- Ensure timely and efficient movement of goods using road, barge, and intermodal transport methods.
- Monitor and track shipments to ensure on-time delivery and proactively resolve any issues that may arise.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws pertaining to international shipping and logistics.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Liaise with internal teams, including Sales, Customer Service, and Warehouse & Operations to coordinate logistics activities.
- Collaborate with external partners, such as Carriers and Warehousing partners to optimize transport solutions.
- Performance Monitoring:
- Track and analyze logistics performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Suggest strategies to enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of transport operations.
- Maintain accurate records of all container related logistics activities.
- Problem-Solving:
- Proactively identify potential issues in the logistics process and suggest solutions to prevent disruptions.
- Manage and resolve any logistical challenges or delays in a timely manner.
- Customer Service:
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external clients regarding container logistics related activities and enquiries.
- Provide timely updates and communication on shipment status to internal and external clients.
- Address and resolve any client complaints or issues related to logistics services.
- Cost Control and Invoicing:
- Monitor and control logistics costs to ensure operations remain within budget.
- Review and approve invoices from transporters, shipping lines, freight forwarders and other logistics service providers.
- Preperation of accurate and timely client invoices.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement cost-reduction initiatives.
The job requirements & competencies:
- Minimum of 7 years of work experience in the same or similar position(s), specifically container transport related.
- Strong knowledge of transport methods including road, barge, and intermodal systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in TMS and WMS systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
