Introduction:

Access World was engaged by our client to ship a unit of Heating Element along with its accessories from Finland to the Philippines.

Access World Singapore worked carefully to evaluate the most cost-effective and operationally feasible logistics solution.

Challenges:

The first challenge faced for this project was to find a suitable connection since the destination was to Cebu which is not one of the major ports in the Philippines.

The Heating Element were overlength at 14.3 meters long and exceeded the normal limits of a container. Given the cargo dimensions, Access World had to carefully assess all available sailing connections taking into consideration the necessary equipment and ground operations required during the different stages and to propose the best and cost worthy option. Singapore was selected due to its expertise in handling such project operations and the availability of sailing connectivity to Cebu.

Access World after tedious studies finally arranged this shipment with the 1st leg from Finland to Singapore via Roll on Roll off (RORO) vessel and to have them shipped on the 2nd leg via container liner as 40’FR overlength and overheight status. Access World made great efforts to ensure a safe operation as well as to securing the 2nd leg sailing with as little connection downtime as possible.

Once the 1st leg RORO vessel arrived in Singapore, Access World personnel were present on-site to view the cargos received and commenced with the ground operations for the 2nd leg connection. The cargos were declared as transhipment and operations kicked off with the mobilising of specialised lifting equipment, gears & lifting team to have the cargos hoisted, loaded and secured on export containers for 2nd leg container liner service.

Scope of Work:

The scope of work for the transportation of the Heating Element along with its accessories included the provision of ocean freight, customs documentation, container trucking including auxiliary escort, container loading and securing, specialised lifting operation and lifting team.

Conclusion:

The successful delivery was attributed to Access World’s expert understanding of project logistics and proper operational planning for the transportation of project cargo. Our adaptability and effective problem solving allowed us to overcome the various challenges that we encountered during the process. This resulted in a successful project completion and overall customer satisfaction.
