Access World is a global commodity warehousing and logistics business. We specialize in handling, Storage, and processing of commodities including non-ferrous and ferrous metals, ferroalloys, project cargo, oil & gas, and other agricultural products. We are an approved warehouse keeper of the London Metal Exchange, and we provide LME warehousing and associated services to traders, producers, financiers, and consumers of base metals. In addition, we provide physical warehouse and related logistics services for commodities such as cocoa beans, rubber, cotton, and other agricultural products. Access World also acts as collateral manager of ferroalloys, minor metals as well as oil and gas. Regions operate in semi-autonomous offices with their corporate functions including commercial, finance HR, legal, and operations.

Purpose of the position:

To ensure accurate and compliant customs clearance processes by preparing and submitting customs declarations, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting efficient import and export operations in line with customs regulations and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Documentation Management

  • Review shipping and customs documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Process invoices, permits, certificates and supporting trade documentation.
  • Maintain accurate customs and shipment records.
  • Ensure documentation is submitted within required timelines.

Coordinación operativa

  • Liaise with customs authorities, shipping lines, transporters and internal teams.
  • Coordinate shipment clearances to support operational efficiency.
  • Monitor cargo movement and clearance status.
  • Escalate delays, non-compliance or operational risks where required.

Service and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide updates to internal and external stakeholders regarding shipment status.
  • Resolve customs-related queries professionally and efficiently.
  • Build effective relationships with clients, service providers and regulatory bodies.

Risk Management and Quality Control

  • Identify potential customs compliance risks and support corrective action.
  • Ensure adherence to company procedures and service standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all customs processes.

Mejora continua

  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay updated on customs legislation and industry changes.
  • Support operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements:

Matric (Grade 12) (NQF Level 4)

Advantageous:

Certificate or Diploma in Customs Clearing, Freight Forwarding, Logistics or Supply Chain Management.

Experience Required:

  • 3 years’ experience in customs clearing and forwarding operations.
  • Experience preparing and processing customs declarations for imports and exports.
  • Experience working with customs systems and shipping documentation.
  • Knowledge of customs legislation, tariff classifications and clearance procedures.

Advantageous Experience:

  • Experience within logistics, warehousing or freight forwarding environments.
  • Experience handling commodities, bulk cargo or specialised cargo.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms and international trade processes.
