Each region operating in semi-autonomous offices with their own corporate functions including Commercial, Finance, HR, Compliance & Legal, Customer Service, and Operations. Purposes of the position
  • General management of operations, coordination and leadership of the Access World Houston locations. This position is onsite in Houston, TX and reports to the Managing Director USA.
  • This position is responsible for supporting the company’s goals by providing leadership and oversight of the Houston operations, including personnel, inbound/outbound traffic, equipment, safety and budgeting/financial planning related to these operations.
  • Formulating strategy, improving performance, procuring material and resources to incorporate long-term stakeholder commitment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with all levels of the organization is required.
  • Sound proficiency, judgment and understanding of commercial warehouse, in house dryage fleet and customer service responsibilities. Staff and service providers as well as trading to include options contracts.
  • Operations improvements, sales and business development to include risk mitigation, efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • A highly motivated individual with the relevant skill sets, capable of developing compelling value propositions that foster strong relationships, managing and selling all Access World Freight business and services.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Accountable for the safety of all employees so as to ensure compliance with the company’s Safety Program and all regulatory requirements.
  • Achieves warehouse operations objectives by contributing warehouse information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends.
  • Meets warehouse operations financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyze variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Driving commercial growth and operations systems through overseeing product handling, sales, delivery and storage requirements; developing space requirements, and equipment layout; implementing changes, enforcing, and evaluating policies and procedures; developing and executing processes for receiving product, product delivery, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping, etc.
  • Prepares CAPEX motivation for operational investments.
  • Succession planning; working with human resource on human capital objectives to assist with recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching and counselling, developing and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Secures property access according to respective Access World policies and procedures;
  • Produces daily/weekly/monthly operational reports with implementation of improve procedures for operational efficiency; KPI/monthly financial report analysis in order to optimize cost structure of the operations.
  • Confers with stakeholders to review invoices, work orders, consumption reports, and forecasts to estimate peak delivery periods and monitor work assignments to coordinate initiative.
Requisitos específicos para el puesto
  • A bachelor's degree from a recognized University in the field of logistics or management would be advantageous. Minimum 10 years of management in a commercial environment to include knowledge of sales, warehousing operations, sales environment and customer service operations or an equivalent combination of training and professional work experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and logistics management industries. Experience handling in- house dryage fleet with a comprehension of raw materials, metals, coils, forest products, bag and palletized general cargo.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involving strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective storage; handling, transport and distribution of goods production methods, and coordination of people and resources in relation to commercial operations.
  • Must be adaptable and able to adjust to accommodate prevailing conditions, able to handle tight scheduling, fast-paced, high volume levels of activity to shift priorities and multi-task as needed.
  • Strong analytical mind set, using operational and financial data (KPI) to make sound business decisions.
  • Improving operational management systems, processes and best practices.
  • Helping the organization’s processes remain legally compliant.
  • Must be adaptable and able to adjust to accommodate prevailing conditions.

  • Must be able to use proper lifting technique to lift 50 pounds.
  • Proficiency in both the written and spoken English language. Spanish speakers a plus but not a must.

  • Manage and lead the Freight and Project Forwarding business to develop and execute the commercial strategy in order to expand the freight and project cargo business.
  • The desk handles freight procurement, vendor management and sales as well as Commercial Account Management covering AW Network, offices and Key Clients.
  • A highly motivated individual with the relevant skill sets, capable of developing compelling value propositions that foster strong relationships, managing and selling all Access World Freight business and services (in line with Freight and Project Forwarding budget revenues, commercial plans and targets, etc.).
Responsabilidades y obligaciones:
  • Managing Freight & Project Forwarding sales Team.
  • New Business development dedicating time to own sales activity.
  • Focus on Access World’s existing target sectors as well as new sectors that is in line with company strategy.
  • Manage Freight & Project Forwarding business and maintain a broad network of vendors and relationships aligned with products, markets and trade-flows.
  • Commercial account management of our network, offices and Key Clients including quotation handling, sourcing of services and rates as well as PnL management.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction meeting customer’s requirements with a reasonable response-time, rate competitiveness and validity periods.
  • Source and select reliable and competitive freight forwarders, carriers (Sea and Air) and other transport providers meeting the companies and customer requirements as well as monitor and track their service performance (service failures, issues, disputes and claims).
  • Develop and Maintain Clearing & Forwarding and Project Cargo Networks.
  • Assist and support internal departments/offices in relation to freight bookings and carrier related issues.
  • Manage and coordinate project forwarding shipments between the Commercial and Customer Service department including but not limited to sea freight (Vessel/Part Charter/LCL/FCL), air freight shipment and inland trucking.
  • Engage prospects and customers to present and sell the company’s services, always furthering relationships to grow and expand the company’s business.
  • Build relationships at all levels and represents the company in a professional manner, including making presentations and attending networking events.
  • Provide management reporting including business reviews, sales planning, meetings and visit reports, etc.
  • Develop and manage shipping procedures and related documentation as per the companies’ requirements.
  • Attend national and international conferences.
