It’s no secret that the shipping industry plays a vital role in world trade. In fact, the majority of goods travel across the globe via container ships. No matter where you go in the world, you will find coastal cities with thriving ports at the centre of their economy. Along America’s Gulf Coast, one of the busiest ports for foreign tonnage is the Port of Houston. The Port of Houston, a bustling 52-mile ship channel, has been experiencing exponential growth over the past couple of years. In 2018 alone, the port handled over 200 million short tons of international cargo. The high volumes of traffic are mostly thanks to the extensive petrochemical activity along the channel, with petroleum and related products making up the majority of import and export commodities.
Access World’s Houston operations
In March, we moved locations into the newly constructed Class A Warehouse at the AmeriPort Industrial Park in Baytown. Our new space offers ample opportunity to partake in the area’s shipping logistics for heavyweight imports and exports. The warehouse space boasts:
- Over 100,000 square feet of inside storage space, with an allowable floor capacity of 2,300 pounds per square foot and including a fenced laydown yard.
- Has twenty-five loading docks with drive-in doors for the loading of weather-sensitive cargo.
- Access to a dual rail, served by Union Pacific and BNSF railways.
- Lies within the heavyweight corridor, and we have the essential permits and equipment to handle heavyweight containers.
