We know that green coffee beans need special care to keep their quality, smell, and freshness from the time they are picked until they get to their destination. We work directly with customers all around Southeast Asia and beyond to offer customized storage, handling, transportation, and repacking services that fit the needs of the coffee trade.
What you need to store
Depending on where it comes from and/or how good it is, green coffee is preserved in different ways:
- You can securely store standard grade at room temperature without any problems.
- To keep premium quality, facilities need to be climate-controlled, usually between 18 and 25 degrees Celsius.
Our warehouses keep strong cleanliness standards and pest control methods, no matter what kind of storage they are. We clean the floors every week, and we store food-grade items properly so that they don’t get contaminated by things that smell pungent.
Services for Repacking
Green coffee normally comes in bags of 30 kg or 60 kg. It can be shipped either loose in containers or on pallets. Many customers need to have their products repackaged into smaller sizes to satisfy their sales and distribution needs:
- Repacking formats range from retail packs of 300g or 500g to bigger wholesale volumes.
- Customization: Clients can bring their own branded bags and labels, or Access World can find and put on labels as needed.
- Quality checks: You can choose to weigh, inspect, and make sure the items are in good condition before and after repacking.
After being repacked, finished items are put in boxes and carefully placed on shelves, sorted by grade and origin, and ready to be sent to roasters or stores in the area.
Customs and Rules
Coffee is a controlled commodity in Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. In Malaysia, you need an import authorization, while in Thailand and Vietnam, you need a license and a quota. Local importers or roasters (not warehouses) have licenses. Access World helps customers by taking care of customs paperwork, bonded warehouse handling, and other relevant paperwork. Access World may also apply for an import permit on behalf of importers in Malaysia. In addition to offering services for storing and handling goods in warehouses, Access World can also apply for an import permit.
Additional Services
We offer more than only storage and repacking; we also offer value-added services to help the coffee supply chain:
- Insurance: recommended for premium or rare coffees to protect against risks during handling and repacking. We work with our Asia insurance desk to provide quotations and options.
- Distribution: delivery to roasters or retailers based on client instructions.
- Custom brokerage support: assistance with import duties, HS codes, and cargo classification.
Challenges and Solutions
It is hard to store green coffee in Southeast Asia because of the hot and humid weather. Many origins may be stored at room temperature, but premium beans can go bad quickly without climate control. Access World offers climate-controlled storage alternatives to keep coffee in the best possible condition, but these cost more.
In Conclusion
Access World offers full-service solutions for the green coffee trade, including handling import paperwork, storing the coffee at the right temperature, carefully repacking it, and delivering it. Our main goals are to protect quality, keep the aroma, and make sure that coffee gets to clients and their customers in pristine shape.
